Yes, it is a sound vanity top. Bianco Antico is a Brazilian granite with a white and gray ground flecked with clear quartz, black and brown mica and occasional burgundy garnet. It resists scratches and acid far better than marble. Light granites can still stain, so seal it and ask for a slab inspection first.

Is Bianco Antico granite a good choice for a bathroom vanity top?
For a vanity top, yes. Granite is hard, heat tolerant and unaffected by the acids that etch marble, and Bianco Antico is a light, busy pattern that hides water spots and toothpaste better than a plain white. The cautions are that light granites can stain, and that the pattern is lively rather than calm.
Use Natural Stone says igneous granites resist scratching in normal use, will not etch from substances like wine, and are generally not very porous, though some light granites can stain. StonePly rates stain resistance for this stone as good. A comparison with marble is in the marble vs granite vanity top guide.

What is Bianco Antico actually made of?
ARC Surfaces lists clear quartz crystals, black and brown mica flakes and occasional burgundy or rose garnets on a white and grey ground. In the strict geological sense, Wikipedia says granite is a coarse intrusive rock with about 20% to 60% quartz and mainly quartz, feldspar and mica, with a density of roughly 2.65–2.75 g/cm³, or 165–172 lb/ft³.
The stone trade uses granite loosely. Use Natural Stone notes that dealers also sell gneiss, schist and garnet-bearing granulites as granite. The sources reviewed for this page all call Bianco Antico granite, but none gives a petrographic analysis, so the rock type is a trade label. Hardness has no single number: Mohs lists quartz at 7 and orthoclase feldspar at 6 and cautions that a mixed rock has no single value.
What does Bianco Antico granite look like, and how much does it vary?
| Source | How it describes the stone |
|---|---|
| ARC Surfaces | White and grey background; quartz crystals, black and brown mica, burgundy garnets; a busy texture |
| Granite Selection | Light gray with white, taupe and burgundy flecks; clear quartz adds shine |
| StonePly | Light cream to soft gray; charcoal, taupe and warm brown clusters; broad flowing bands and tighter granular areas |
| Daltile (G446) | Polished, 2 cm and 3 cm, shade variation rated medium |
Descriptions differ because slabs differ; StonePly also lists aliases including Royal Silk and Pearl White, which are seller labels.
Expect cream or gray undertones that change between lots, so choose the actual slab in person or on video. Daltile lists a polished finish only for this stone; honed or leathered options depend on the fabricator.
Where does Bianco Antico granite work in a bathroom?
Vanity tops, tub surrounds, backsplashes and shower niches are the natural fits. Daltile notes that polished surfaces are not recommended for floors where slip resistance is a concern, and that natural stone products are not recommended for wet areas exposed to chemicals or extreme humidity and heat, such as steam rooms. Confirm waterproofing behind shower walls with your installer and local code.
Granite sinks and basins are practical. The stone is heavy, with our weight model using about 168 lb/ft³ for granite.
Does Bianco Antico granite need sealing?
Use Natural Stone says most granites should be sealed, that timing depends on the stone and use, and that a good sealer can last up to 10 years with the right daily cleaners. Its water test: put hot water on the surface for 10 to 20 minutes, wipe it off, and if the stone darkens it still absorbs moisture and needs sealing.
MSI says a high-quality sealer helps light granite resist stains, most stains can be drawn out with a poultice, oil must be wiped promptly, and harsh chemicals and abrasives should be avoided. Skip dish detergent, which Use Natural Stone says leaves a film. No source reviewed here gives an absorption figure for this stone.
What looks like Bianco Antico granite?
Daltile groups it with other speckled whites such as Dallas White and Himalaya White. Viscount White has more flowing movement; Bianco Antico is the busier, more granular pattern. For a calmer white with fewer flecks, look at marble such as Carrara, accepting its etching, or at Calacatta for stronger veining.
Where is Bianco Antico granite quarried?
Daltile, ARC Surfaces, Granite Selection and StonePly all state Brazil. The sources reviewed here do not name a quarry or state. General geology: granite forms where silica-rich magma cools slowly underground, and Brazil has extensive granitic terrain. This describes the stone variety only.
