How we research prices and comparisons

Where the numbers come from

• Competitor prices come from each company's own website, and we link the page we read. If a price isn't published, we say so rather than estimate it.
• Cost ranges combine those published prices with independent US cost guides, which we also link.
• Weights and dimensions of our own pieces come from our makers' specifications for the stone and size you choose.

How often we check

We re-check every price and claim at least once a quarter, and whenever a reader tells us something has changed. Each page shows the date it was last checked.

Limits

• Prices change, and sale prices, shipping and taxes vary by location; treat every figure as “as of” the date shown.
• Natural stone varies block to block, so weights and prices for a specific piece are confirmed in its quote.
• We make and sell stone pieces ourselves, so we have an interest. We include named alternatives and say who should choose them.
